Tip of the Spear Outdoors is a Michigan based outdoor services company built around a deep respect for wildlife, habitat, and the responsibility that comes with utilizing natural resources. Our work is done in the belief that ethical hunting and fishing, sound habitat management, and education all play a role in long-term conservation and stewardship.

Through guiding and wildlife and fisheries services, we focus on practical, science informed approaches that support healthy populations, functional habitats, and informed decision making in the field.

Our Purpose

At its core, Tip of the Spear Outdoors exists to bridge wildlife science and real world application.

Wildlife and fisheries biology provide the foundation for how we approach habitat, populations, and management decisions. Our work considers conditions at every level, from soil composition, water quality, and vegetation structure to animal behavior, health, and population trends. By accounting for factors such as habitat quality, disease presence, environmental change, and other site-specific variables as part of a broader assessment, we are able to make informed, site-specific recommendations that support healthy wildlife and fisheries populations and sustainable use.

Guiding builds on that same foundation by helping hunters ethically and responsibly participate in wildlife management while also providing high quality, locally sourced food for themselves and their families. When approached correctly, hunting is more than recreation; it is one of the tools used to manage populations, reduce imbalance, and maintain healthy ecosystems. Education, preparation, and realistic expectations are central to that process.

Just as important, Tip of the Spear Outdoors is built around the belief that meaningful work in the outdoors can provide purpose and direction, particularly for veterans transitioning into civilian life. As the operation grows, our goal is to create opportunities for other veterans who share a passion for wildlife, conservation, and ethical hunting to work alongside us, build skills, and contribute to responsible stewardship.

By combining science, education, and the ethical use of natural resources, we aim to foster a community of stewards who understand their role in conservation and are committed to ensuring these landscapes, habitats, and game species persist for generations to come.

    Owner / Wildlife & Fisheries Biologist / Guide

    Bryan founded Tip of the Spear Outdoors to combine a lifelong dedication to the outdoors with a science based approach to wildlife and fisheries stewardship. He holds a master’s degree in wildlife biology. His work is driven by a deep respect for wildlife, fisheries, the landscapes and waters they depend on, and the responsibility that comes with using natural resources.

    With a background in wildlife and fisheries biology and experience as a Michigan outdoorsman, Bryan focuses on preparation, ethical decision making, and practical field skills that support both conservation and self sufficiency.

    A former Army infantryman and combat veteran, Bryan brings a disciplined, safety first mindset to every project and hunt. He emphasizes situational awareness, planning, and accountability in the field.

    Jenny supports Tip of the Spear Outdoors through behind the scenes operations, client coordination, and marketing support. She holds a master’s degree in special education with an autism endorsement and brings strong organizational, communication, and planning skills to the operation. Passionate about the outdoors and supporting veterans, Jenny helps manage scheduling, outreach, and day to day logistics, ensuring the business runs smoothly and clients have a clear, positive experience from first contact through completion.

    Hunting Guide & Field Technician

    Mark works alongside Tip of the Spear Outdoors as a guide and field technician, supporting both guided hunts and wildlife services projects. He brings extensive hands on experience across a wide range of species and environments and is known for his efficiency, consistency, and deep understanding of animal behavior, habitat use, and seasonal movement. Mark regularly assists with habitat work, data collection, and other field based tasks that support wildlife and fisheries assessments.

    A combat veteran and former Army infantryman, Mark approaches guiding with discipline, attention to detail, and a strong emphasis on safety and ethical decision making. His broad field knowledge, calm presence, and proven effectiveness across species help ensure clients have a prepared, confident, and responsible outdoor experience.
