Field Notes: Deer Habitat Class at Michigan Timber Shack
Over the past few months, a lot of my focus has been on building out the educational side of Tip of the Spear Outdoors.
One of the things I enjoy most is helping people better understand how deer use the landscape and how small changes can make a real difference over time.
On May 2nd, I’ll be teaching an introductory deer habitat class at Michigan Timber Shack.
This class is designed to give a solid foundation for anyone looking to improve their property. We’ll walk through how deer use habitat, including bedding areas, food sources, travel patterns, and security. The goal is to help you start looking at your land through a different lens.
We’ll also talk through how plantings like fruit trees, oaks, conifers, and grasses fit into a larger habitat system, and how to begin making improvements without feeling overwhelmed.
This isn’t about building a perfect property in one day. It’s about understanding the basics and having the confidence to take that first step.
If you’ve been wanting to better understand your property or just don’t know where to start, this is a good place to begin.
